Todd's 200 DD Build Thread

It's pretty fine, but not as bad as that really fine sand, this stuff sinks compared to other fine sands that blow around the tank for hours..

Have a couple more picture updates..

after adding the 120lbs of sand..

Hey Todd,

I used this sand in my new set up. I really like the way it looks, and was amazed and how there was virtually no sand cloud after just rinsing it real quick twice... Like NO cloud!

My question... It is finer sand then I've used on my last tank... Do you vacuum your sand bed?

This is why I like this sand,it is pretty fine(but not as much as that powder stuff)and settles very quick..since it comes wet from the manufacture wet, there is no major cloud when adding it to the tank..My 120 with fine white sand took 3 days to settle to clear, this stuff 8 hours after 120lbs..

The only part of the tank that gets a vacuum is the front portion of the sand bed,any other I would be breaking corals like crazy..I do that enough as it is lol..I've been in a battle with red cyanobacteria the past couple months, driving me nuts lol

have a few coral update pictures, something happened last month where I lost a couple acans and torches(not my Todd's torch thank god) but I did lose my orange torch and some very nice acans..Shot right through the heart :( No idea why and everything is going fine now..My sps and most other corals are doing very well though..

Those colors are awesome!! How do you guys do that? Is it flow, stability, are you adding food/additives/etc for the SPS?

And holy R. yuma Batman!! That thing looks huge!

haha thanks Johnny..I fail so hard at photography :) The corals look more like Johnny pics, but my tyree purple monster looks more purple :)

Thanks Liz..I'm sure it's a bit of all you said stability being most important to me..I dose BRS two part Alk and Cal..Plus doing a 30 gal water change every couple weeks helps a bunch.reef mixes are so good these days..I believe..(just me) it makes water chemistry pretty easy..

I'm sure the 2 250w 14k Phoenix bulbs add a bit of color also :) easy trick lol yeah that Yuma is a fav of mine:) spits out Babbie's all the time also

Wow Id love to see that in person if the pictures look like they do (after Johnnies touch up service :) They gotta look insane irl ! nice work todd

very nice looking tank. I've got a custom DD 200 on order (peninsular version with dual overflows on one of the 36" ends), so these photos are really raising the anticipation.
