TOM nibbling BTA :(

Hi,

sorry this is my first post, but i found this forum in a little panic.

i've had a TOM for several months now, and just recently decided to add a BTA. the guy at my LFS picked out a BTA that other TOM's were using, and told me it would be no problem getting the clown to use the anenome.

A few days have passed, and the TOM is nibbling the BTA (and hasn't used it). it doesn't seem to be doing any damage because the BTA closes itself. and i read here it could take weeks or months or more for the clown to use it, so i'm not too worried, but...

my question is, how do i make sure the BTA is being fed? I read that BTAs rely on scraps of food brought by clowns to thrive. Is this true?

thank you very much in advance,

Fred

ps - i also have 2 damsels, not really interacting with the BTA

You take some krill or silversides or any meaty food and feed it. I have had clowns with my GBTA and Carpet for about 6 months and they dont pay attention to either one. Clowns will usually nip at a anemone to get used to it. Give it time.

it's pretty common for clowns to "suck the tentables" of anemones. Please do read the Anemone FAQ in the FAQ thread at the top of this forum. Make sure your tank is appropriate for the BTA. And do feed him silversides or other nice meaty foods.
