Has anyone ever used this type of Cansiter Filter? I know the majority of Reefers don't recomend using Canister Filters, but I was curious if anyone had every used this type before?

I was thinking about using it to run Carbon/Phosphate Remover and also create more flow, I already have a Protien Skimmer, but thought running two wouldn't hurt right? plus it has an Auto Top off which I thought was pretty cool.

Anyone have any Exprience with this, or opinions even?

i have one its not a canister filter it is a wet dry trickle filter, i use it on a 180 gal tank i dont use the bio balls in it i only use filter pad and the bottom chamber i use for carbon pura and other media i think its a good filter beacuse it allows air and water contact everyone has sumps been there done it i rather use a wet dry filter anytime

Thanks for the reply,
Many people feel these types of filters are Nitrate factories, and don't recomend them, I am curious how badley they really are?

My setup a sump would not really work, so I am trying to figure out a good way to be able to provide good flow, without using a bunch of powerheads, be able to run Carbon/Phosphate remover, and filter the water...this type of system seems ideal for what I am needing, but I am concerned at how many people are against these type of filters. I have never used these type of filters before...so I just have to go with what I read and hear...

just dont use the bioballs in it ,i just use a filter pad and then the filter media in bottom container alot of people have differnt opinions i happen to not like a sump beacuse the water flows in no air to water contact this filter is on a 180 gal reef tank and have no trouble at all i still use powerheads
