I purchased two tomato clowns for my new rose anemone. I had success in the past doing this with two Percula's and a Sebae. The solution seemed to be working. After acclimatizing to the tank, I held them in quarantine together and they seemed to get along great. I released them and the first night they spent together with no problems. The next day I pointed them in the direction of the rose anemone and that is when the trouble started. Both had no problem bonding with the anemone. The problem is one of them became territorial and chased the other tomato clown off. They now exist about 10-18" apart from each. The lesser has tail fin bit marks.
My question is this:
Strategy one:
The anemone is medium size. I am feeding twice a day to get it larger. So far, it is growing well. Will I be able to get this anemone big enough for the two clown fish? I have heard tomato's can altar gender in a closed environment if gender is the issue.
Strategy two:
Rose anemones split profusely. Wait until it splits so each clown has its own.
Am I dreaming? Should I be sending this clown to a new owner for safety?
I appreciate your experience and thoughts.
