Pics don't do it justice, but is it Toms?

Close enough. I'm not in it to sell/frag. Love the phenotype. Just looking to give it a name. Thanks Dan-o. I recall Toms being very long with huge yellow tips. That could have been flow related. For now, colors are similar. Time will tell.

recall......

recall......

Tom had that torch with the huge yellow tips as well as the famous green morph

Euphyllia glabrescens

does this coral have a recorded number of morphs?
are there sub species or maybe cross breeding between Euphyllia species?
it seems the more we know... the less we know!

Anyways, picked up a very nice orange morph of this coral at the Buffalo swap. I'm not quite sure if there are other types of orange Torch coral ("fat" vs "skinny"?) or if water flow will ultimately affect tentacle length. (Input encouraged here!)

I've got the torch to the left in Gary's picture. Pretty close at the least. Nice large heads with yellow tips. It's really become a centerpiece in my tank but recently I made the mistake of picking it up while the water level was down for a water change and the weight of it broke it in half. I guess I needed the room anyway.

I'm trying to think of Toms torches. I know he's got one with HUGE tips on it but isn't that torch almost purple w/ yellow tips?

Please do not hijack this thread to inquire about sale/trade of this torch.
I do still have a decent section of the piece that broke off. I'll be out of town for a few weeks and wont be available to hook anyone up until the end of June but if you've been looking send me a PM.

Most definitely flow, light, water quality, etc related. If you go to TRS today, you will see it looks like a normal yellow tipped torch (the yellow tips are normal size now)

For those wondering what "toms torch" is, here is an old pic from years back

Nice Mark!

Aaron-Unless he has the lineage that goes back there is no way we can prove it. Though IMO it doesn't matter. It's a pretty torch.

Right on. I'm pleased to call it a look alike. Perhaps I can get those nice big yellow tips and sell it as "Cully's Torch". It's all marketing.

Honestly I love it. I won't be fragging anything any time soon.
