Today and tomorrow is Tongs sale. I was there yesterday and everyone was buzy. Lots of fishes and corals, expensive as usual. I saw couple of nice sps but they said it was already sold :( . Not sure if it was sold or they were too buzy to make a sale?

Good luck

Simon

today i went there to buy stuff, only to get mad, i bought a coral from a 29 dollar tank, suppose to cost 29 dollar right?

well the guy didn't mark the price on my stuff, then later when i check out, they say it was 39 dollar, I try to explain to them but they insist it was 39, i was supper **** off. Been a good customer of his for a while now, that stuff got me mad.
and yea i see no 30% discount more like a $10 dolllar extra recount.

That's the thing about tong. You shop there for years and stuff like that happen and they act like they never seen you before. **** me off sometime too. They can careless what you have bought. Or how much you spent in the past. To them is just sale sale sale.

They raise the price 50% then give you 30% off for the sale....

Tongs=no good.....Go to coral oasis instead

Neither one! Go to GHO's swap instead. Free food, good customer servive and bunch of good folks.

F18-Hornet, an F18 flew over our house yesterday as part of the Armed Forced Day Parade. Loud as heck (the walls literally shook) but what a beautiful sight!

you are still lucky, dang, I hear it whenever I go to the base.

The wife's been wanting a purple firefish in the 24G Nano, so we took the drive to Tong's for the sale. A few thoughts:

1) It was fricken packed. It was a zoo. I'm surprised they had anything left, because there was a line 6 deep at the checkout. Someone had a box of about ~25 bags, and at least a few of them had SPS, so I'm sure they cleaned up today.

2) After hearing the pricing issues above, I was sure that they clearly marked the prices on my bags. In addition to the firefish, I picked up an Alveopora (Flowerpot) and 3 nassarius snails. My fault for not watching him grab the snails, I ended up with 2 empty shells and 1 snail when I got home. The Flowerpot's in great shape, though - open and extended within about 2 hours of acclimation. Tongs 1, Jeff 0.

3) I did notice on the receipt that I was charged $1.00 for "dry goods". I didn't have any dry goods. It's just a dollar, but I have no idea if this is intentional, of they've created some mysterious fee (bags?), or if the cashier just made a mistake. Annoyance, but nothing to cry about, but Tongs 2, Jeff 0.

All in all, I'm not unhappy - came away with 2 very cool items, a snail, and 2 empty shells.

yeah, it was pretty amazing. Flew nice and low, right above the tree tops for everyone to see (and hear!).

BTW, made it out to Tong's. Pretty pathetic with the trickery. Ex: JBJ Nano cube - $189.99 on sale (not bad) but matching stand marked up to $139.99 with $10.00 off. Their everyday price for the package is $299.99 so they are increasing their margin during the "sale."

They raised there prices on several items.

Comes seahorses they list as Indio, 39.99 on Thursday, 49.99 on Saturday.

Scarlet reef hermits 5 for 15 on Thursday, 3.98 a piece on Saturday.

Frag tank $10 dollar frags Thursday, $15 dollar frags Saturday.

etc, etc.

The guy laughed when I said I was going to wait until Monday to buy my hermits because they'd be cheaper after the sale. They know. I think they know we know.

I did get a lawn mower blenny for $8 that is usually 11.98, no price raise there.

to them, they make money no matter what, even if they know we know they change the price the night before.

How many people actually check the price the night before or knowing of the package deal. They target on walk-in customers and customer that know nothing about reefcentral.

To them wow 30-50%..must be cheap.

my 2 cent.

I complain about Tongââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢s prices but have always said that its business. But Changing the prices and telling people your give them a discount is down right lying.
