Tonights hatch (Occies)

So the above clutch is pretty much a bust! Two of the last 5 nights in the ER with my wife and dealing with other crap at home...not working well with clown breeding...maybe next time.

What I do with them is pull the tile they lay on on the night I expect hatch (this batch was laid last Monday).

When you say you pull the tile, do you pull it out of the water completely? Or do you keep it submerged in a container when you pull out the tile?

Thanks Clownfish Depot.

d0ughb0y - I pull it out of the water completely and walk it into the other room. I (along with probably everyone here) have heard that air exposure can be bad or it can be nothing to worry about as long as they don't dry out...with the Occi eggs, I normally only have 3-5 eggs left on the tile that didn't hatch, I can say anectdotally (or some spelling of that stupid word) that there is no harm done from removing it completely.

Thanks for the info.
One more thing, are those clay pots or plastic?

My pair was laying eggs like clockwork for months but I never tried to hatch, until my tank crashed and nem died and they have not laid egg since.

They are clay. I have never tried plastic but wouldn't think they woul like them as much, they seem to like the rough texture.

I have perculas that lay eggs regularly in a shell, when I was trying to get babies I would take shell out and put it in my hatching tank. I could get them to hatch easy enough would turn out the lights for a hour then shine a lite in tank for awhile they would hatch. Just couldn't keep them alive. The longest was 3 days.

I don't follow...got a pic???

Cool idea. Did you find that elevating the front of the pot made a difference? How many more hatched this way? I will give it a shot.

I have found that elevating the pot prevented deaths and increased my hatch rate. I think this is mainly because I have more control of the air flow. I was late getting that set up last night and none hatched so I will try again tonight. Most of the other hatches have been 95%.
