TONS of baby snails

So the other night i was looking around my tank and literally every place i shone the flashlight there were at least 10 baby snails crawling on the rock, glass, etc. So there has to be hundreds of these guys in there. But during the day I hardly see any. Is this common?

congrats!! yes, most of my snails come out at night. i see them crawling over the glass at night and they seem to retreat during the day. however, i've never had a mass production of babies like you seem to have had. one word of caution though....i had a buddy who had a 1000g tank and his snails made tons of babies and they nearly crashed his tank. (they didn't have enough food i guess and there was a mass die off). so just be careful. but yes, snails at night are good!!

As long as they're a good type, even colonistas or dove snails, if you can nab batches of them that reach a decent size, you might make a deal with your lfs. Become a snail rancher!

If they are the kind that look like they have kind of a flat shell that is kinda pretty looking, then they are stomatella snails and they just eat algae. I have had these reproducing like crazy in my tank and at night there are hundreds of them all over the glass.

I love my stomatella snails, they seem to multiply and grow quite quickly. I also have baby Nerite or turbo snails too, they're so tiny!

Be careful with the snails if you're using a cleaning magnet. One got caught in my magnet and I was cleaning my front pane, my heart just about dropped.
