I got certified with a groupon deal through dixie divers. I thought getting certified was expensive, until I started shopping for gear and accessories.

Dont go diving without getting certified, its a great experience, and dives are included in the course.

the ocean is not like a pool. It also has other factors that can come into play. Will you know what to do if your regulator stops working, or you run out of air? What happens if you mask gets flooded? Will you recognize the symbols your dive buddy is communicating to you with?

You dont have to be very deep to experience pulmonary baro-trauma. Lungs to not sense pain from over expansion before its too late, thus the importance of proper instruction.
