I added this guy 4 days ago to my tank. At that time, he was picked on my strawberry pseudo right off. He hid for the 2 days occasionally Ill see his head pop out from some where. I took out the pseudo 2 days ago, and the wrasse came out right away. And he was eating along with the rest of my fishes. That night was the last time I saw him. I did not see him yesterday or all today. The top of my tank is closed off and I have checked my sump and overflow box for him and also the back of the tank.
I did notice a mucous spider web looking thing on the base of my live rock, Im hoping it isnt the body of the fish decomposing.
If you guys can please tell me theres a good chance he is hiding, then it would make my day. Thanks

Have you check your overflow box, filtersox and every possible place where he can jump out of. I have the same problem with my lineatus, he has been missing for almost a year now and no luck :(.

man I hope mine doesnt hide for a year...
yea i checked pretty much everywhere...
guess there goes a wasted life along with $$$:mad2: :(

Get rid of the strawberry pseudo...those guys are mean. If it was still around, you probably would of seen it already....:(

Do you have lots of rock in the tank? sometime he just hide for couple days. Make sure Mr mantis did not pay your tank a visit. I used to have a mantis in my tank he ate couple fish from me.

I sure hope you find him.

Dont these guys like to bury themselves in the sand?

Fairy wrasse did not burry themself. When they sleep, the body release some coating to protect them, all fair sleep in the rock

As mentioned in the original post I got rid of that pseudo. I agree its mean, it killed my firefish. No mantis, but I have seen this ugly black crab at night with red eyes. I would if he could be the guy. I am also missing 2 fireshrimps. They were missing the next day I added them.

Is that spideweb mucous looking thing the coating from the wrasses?

yah the ghost shrimp are a good way to have him come out. Sometimes they are shy, so you should leave the room. When you come back, you will either see the shrimp alive and well, or you will see bits and pieces of them. If bits and pieces, he is probably ok. Assuming no other ghost shrimp eating fish in your tank

the mucous spider web looking thing is a coating they spin around them when they sleep to protect them... they use it also to anchor to the liverock... the mucous spider web looking thing is a good sign that he is still around... my RedSea Wrasse did the same thing ;)
