Too much circulation?

Hey guys, I added my first clown today. I have a 55 gallon with 2 maxi-jet 1200's. The clown seems like it's having a tough time swimming with the current and sometimes gets thrown around. Do I have too much circulation going on? I don't want to kill him from exhaustion :( help! I have smaller circulation pumps readily available if needed

Clown should be fine, but they need some peace. If its like that in every inch of the tank, I would try and change the flow pattern.

Well that's the thing. Just one maxi jet alone has water circulating through the whole tank due to the way I aquascaped. Should I just hook up 2 smaller ones? I feel like even just one jet has enough power to be too much for the clown.

just for reference, I have 2 wp-10's in a nuvo 38, that's about 3 times more flow in a tank that's 20 gallons smaller.

A healthy fish will appreciate the flow and will adapt. The flow in your 55 sounds fine and depending on what you're going after in the long run, you may end up needing or wanting more, flow. If anything, you could always add some of those rotating flow outputs from Hydor or there's another one out there that's a little, more, expensive. It will cut back the flow and allow it to be more, random while it's rotating.
