Too much flow?? How much do I need?

I upgraded the BioCube's stock pump to a Maxijet 900 and now I have a good strong flow through pretty much the whole tank. I just got my little clown out of QT and put him in there. He seems to be a bit crazy swimming up and down in the current. Now here is my question: Is this flow too much for him? I know my tank needs better flow to keep the bad algae from sticking and to keep things moving in the tank. But is this harming him in some way? Also, do I need to put the pump on a timer so that it can go on and off throughout the day? What if the timer just went off and on once a day?

I guess the question I am trying to get across is what is the best thing for the clown and the tank? How do I create a happy tank. The only other fish I plan on adding is a yellow watchman goby after a few weeks in QT.

P.S. My clown spent 4 weeks in QT and looks and acts great as far as his health goes. My water parameters are at 0 and the pH is 8.2-8.4, temp. is 81.

Any help is appreciated!!!

what size is your biocube? Chances are the clown fish will adapt..just needs to get used to the stronger flow.

With what you have now, 140 to 300GPH is probably fine. The trick is to get the flow spread out and not just a single jet of water. One place larger tanks are a bit easier, you can have 2 or more powerheads to even out the flow.
