Too much flow?

I have a 10g tank w/ 20lbs of live rock and 10lbs of sand with a maxijet 400 and a rio 400 powerhead and also a cpr bak pak skimmer. I was wondering if this is to much flow for the tank size. I am also prob going to get rid of the cpr and replace it with an modded HOB filter fuge, would this be a better idea?

you're probably fine. That is around 80 times turnover tho. Generally you want around 25-30 for most stuff. I keep all kinds of softies a couple lps (those arent in direct flow tho) and a couple sps in around 27 times turnover right now and they all do fine.

But i would think that the worste part about how much flow you have is not neccesarilly the gallons per hour, but just the fact that those pumps are just shooting out jets of waer.

If you were to replace both of them with like a single seio620 or i've even seen a local guy do one of the tunze nanostreams (the smallest one) in his 10. Those give off a much wider flow and its not as violent, you know? It feels like it might be half of what the maxi is pushing out, but in reality it is a bit more.

OH crap! I just realized that mj 400's do not put out 400gph lol. I dont know what it is tho, and i dont know what the rio pushes out either....what are the gph ratings on both of them?
