too much light?

light has nothing to do with it . Its growing like that from the flow in your tank

Water flow. Your pumps may run right to left but controlling deflection is more of a challenge. Try some frozen cyclopeeze and watch how fly around in your tank, should make your flow patterns pretty clear.
