Too much light?

I have 2 400w MH set-up's that I haven't used yet that are being stored for future use in my larger tank. Currently I have 2 175w over my 90g and was thinking of just putting the 400w over the 90g for the time being, but didn't know if this was to much light.

3 month old tank, with just some mushrooms for now but will be stocked with more corals.

Probably will be a lot for mushrooms if middle-high in the tank, but not for sps and other moderate-high light corals. If you do decide to use them then make sure to acclimate your corals properly no matter what lighting they require and place the mushrooms on the bottom. I've noticed mushrooms don't expand as much and don't grow as much either under higher lighting.

are you talking 1 400w mh over the 90? I was thinking about running 1 centrally mounted 4002 SE on my 90g that I am gathering equipment for, but since I do not want to modify the center brace to an acylic one, i decided on 2x250 either SE if I can get these 2 m58 ballasts for free from work, or DE if I have to buy ballasts.

well, the mH run with 3-4 t5ho

If so that is a good setup, 2 400s may be overkill.

I was thinking overkill also, I encountered the same problem with my center brace and didn't want to modify it (or just didn't know how too). Because I wanted more light was thinking of just using both 400w SE, one on each side, for the lighting.
