Top 10 Nano Reef FIsh

Beautiful fish. Remember they can get relatively large. I am sure you know this, because you're well educated.

Did you upgrade your tank? Do you still have your same specimens as before?

They get 4" or so. Nope not upgraded yet; still a 29g.

I have 1 perc. clown, 1 yasha goby +pistol shrimp. I think my shy scaredy cat yasha bit the dust so I'm down to one instead of my pair :( . My yellow clown goby finally died. I don't think he was eating much.

How big is she at the moment? 4" is about right, I've heard and seen one or two getting a bit over 5" (obviously an older fish).

If you are serious about the fish, which I am pretty sure you are, I may consider upgrading to like a 40g breeder, a tad more LR for long term care of this beautiful fish. You got some good advice from Todd and the likes. :)

Good luck. :)

I do have another 8lbs of lr in QT. Waiting until my whisper hob filter gathers it's biological filtration before removing the rock from the QT. Have a wrasse in qt at the moment. Wrasse is doing well. Anyways that will bring my lr to around 35lbs or so.

It's the good lr too. The lego of the ocean is what some of my lrc members call it.

I've been pondering putting a 90g up and making the 29 it's sump...

Here's a video. You can it zooming around the lr. It loves the nooks and crannies I've created. Glad my friend help me chose this rock when I was setting up tank last spring. An overhang was a must in my book. My angel now loves it too :)

Very nice! Looks like she loves the crevices, which is a good thing. I would think with time, she will venture out into the open more and more, if she hasn't already. Like most fish, they can be a little shy at times.

Beautiful fish. :fish1:

She no longer hides when we sit in front of the tank. She comes forward to investigate. I think she's a fine specimen. I'm hopeful that she'll be around for many many years since she's already warmed up to tank life. Eats well and is always picking at the lr. I'm buying even more food to give her more variety...swear she'll be eating better than I do

Diver's Den had her for 5 weeks before they put her up for sale.

Same here. If I watch my fish from 10 feet away, they do their normal thing, but once I sit near the tank, they expect to be feed, and watch ME! lol

One thing to consider - is replace the LR every so often, with fresh LR, not exposed to air, and won't cause a mini-cycle, to keep her happy, however I'm not an Angel expert. Unless you feel like feeding her a little more frequently.

My fish eat better than I do. I have quite a variety. Mostly meaty foods, but a wide variety of meat. Nothing is feed more than 2x a week, so they never get too attached to one food.

Diver's Den has one of the most advanced QT procedure for fish. There was a thread about how many people would buy DD fish and proceed to just acclimate and put in DT, instead of QT. I believe like 75%+ would do so. Very few were undecided, or deepened on specimen, and a few would QT regardless.

Good luck with her. :bounce1:

I do feed Nori now just for her and I'm stepping up feedings and also upping water change frequency. They eat algae and things off the lr...this one does anyway. I've just asked someone if she would eat cheato. If so, I'll start a refugium to grow it just for her...lol and for it's nitrate absorbing properties.

Been thinking about making a fuge out of an aquaclear 50...on my list of something to do for awhile now :)

Thanks, I hope she does well also.

The only "thing" I know that eat's Cheato is long-spine urchins.

You may want to invest into a skimmer.

If you don't know already, try to feed little amounts, frequently.

Good idea with the AQ50. I have one on my 14 with GFO and carbon.

I'm east river. By the east border. Quite a ways from winner. I'm not born and raised SD although my hubby is.

How about those saltwater catfish? I haven't seen or heard of these in years. Does anyone know if they are suited for a nano? Seems to me they have a poisonous spine in their pectoral fin.

Saltwater catfish!? Like the common ones caught in the ocean, or is there a special "reef" catfish?
