top 100 things about reefs I had to learn the hard way...

its baaaaaack.........funny how this thread gets resurrected from the dead every other month. I'll add to this.

#?)forgetting to make sure your cabinet is locked when you have a 2 curious 2 year old in the house.

This is a super old thread.. Awesome it's survived the years. I will add.

(?) When doing a tank build, slow it down & buy all the equipment first before you even think about putting water in your tank. Because once you see the tank with water in it, you get the either. Then all of the sudden you need to get everything setup "Right Now!" You start to get the cheaper stuff to make it happen, and 4 months later you now need to upgrade your lighting, flow & Skimmer and totally waisted a poop ton of money & your new tank looks like crap....

64) if you cant spell anemone you probably have not done enough research to care for one.

65) dont research a fish, coral or invert after you buy it, find out its specific requirements first and then decide if you still want it.

66) spend at least 15 minutes every day just enjoying your tank. Its easy to get caught up in your reef chores and not take the time to just enjoy what you have worked so hard on.

67) name your fish and corals, you will take better care of them when they are friends.

68) a laser pointer makes showing your wife, friend, etc... A certain point of interest in the tank a lot easier then pointing

(63) don't procrastinate fixing two of the four fans that died in your hood and then do a water change before going out of town and forget to plug your water chiller back in before leaving.

This was an amazing list and I am guilty of about half of them! I was laughing the whole time I was reading. Glad we all have the same problems haha

Never make a change to your equipment settings right before bedtime. It will be a long sleepless night.

As to all the good advice on the Internet. Here is my motto. I would really like to agree with you, but then both of us would be wrong.

NEVER ever say in front of your tank " I am going out of town" (something will fail)
When doing water changes make sure you turn your ATO back on, (before you go out of town)
