Thank again folks.

Charlie- it's pretty simple. Do regular maintenance, have adequate flow, really concentrate on water quality, and choose your favorite type of lighting. Am I being too vague?

understanding all the calcium crapola also helps too;)

Nope, very clear. The basics is what I hear.

No special chems, no special dosing, just good husbandry.

thanks

Looks great. What bulbs are you using in Tek?

Thanks Bill and Dorrian. I've used German bulbs in the past but for the last year I just use Current USA T5HOs.

front to back

Current blue 460nm
Current blue 460nm
KZ Fiji Purple
Current 10K
Current blue 460nm
Current blue 460nm

Interesting combo. The store down the street from me caries those bulbs. I think I'll give those a shot before ordering else where. Thanks for the info.

Jeff- I still dose vodka, but sparingly. My skimmer does a good job of keeping the PO4 at .02-.03 (Hanna). I feed the fish 2 cubes of frozen food per day and add some kind of coral food 2-3 per week. I really don't have a set schedule for anything except Ca/Alk additions and WCs. I add Tropic Marin Biocalcium 3x/day. I do a weekly 5 gallon WC using 50/50 IO/Oceanic mix.

ahh thank u. I was seriously considering trying a 50/50 mix of Oceanic and IO. I never really heard a definitive answer on whether mixing was a good idea. Now I know :)

WOW. just a beautiful tank. great coloration. I really like you r set-up and coral selections. nice job. thanks for sharing the pics. keep it simple and basic...I like it and agree

Hi Greg. Thanks for the compliment.

I started dosing vodka 3-4 years ago. It worked well but wanted to try something different. So I went full blown Zeo with reactor, basic 4, and supplements. The past 2 years I have done a hybrid system of my own. I don't use the zeolith (rocks) anymore. On occasion I will use zeobak, zeofood, and vodka (in place of start2). My favorite supplement/food is Pohl's Coral Vitalizer. I've tried most of their line and can do without it. 1-2x per week I will feed Reed Mariculture oyster eggs and roti feast. The fish like frozen cubes of mysid, brine, and cyclops.
