Float switches work well, I use a dual float switch setup on a timer. Float switches can fail though :(

Best bet is to setup an ATO and have a friend come by and check on it or something. I have anxiety over leaving my tanks for 1 day.

Yea my problem is I have no one that can come over to check on it the tank. So I have to come up woth something that will work.

i've left my tank for 10 days before with a JBJ ATO and it worked like a champ. You may also want to set up an auto feeder if your fish require frequent feeding

Just make sure your float switches are as fail proof as possible. Set it on a timer a few times a day to match your evaporation so even if it sticks there is no possibility of flooding the tank with fresh water. Also make sure they are shielded from snails etc..

I left my tank for a week while I went to Colorado, and I was a nervous wreck the entire time. But I had everything on my Reefkeeper 2 and the JBJ ATO and everything was PERFECT when I got home. It's such a relief to not have to worry about it while being away. The fish were a bit hungry, but that was all.

Highly recommend the JBJ ATO. I have mine set up to pull water from a 5 gal Home Depot bucket. Works perfectly. :)
