Topics for future meetings?

We are preparing for a lot of future meetings.
What topics would you all like to hear discussed?

Your participation in this thread will greatly help us prepare for those discussions. It doesn't matter if it seems simple or advanced. We have members of all levels in our club so someone will find all levels of discussions helpful.

Let 'em rip!

Lighting - explain PAR, color temp but also talk about types of ballast that is what I need a lesson on !

Plumbing - I'd love to hear how to plumb a tank and not get that flushing sound!

And of course we could always have a Frag Swap!

Also Amy and I would like to host the March meeting since times are filling up.

Sanford - consider yourself the March meeting. I will PM you later to talk about dates, times, etc.

Keep the Topic Ideas coming. Those are really good ones.

Richard, somebody said that you have a home brew for fish food. Its nice to learn the DIY stuff for some of us new reefers on a tight budget. Thanks Brandon

How to make a razor blade scraper out of your magfloat and acrylic. (I am still perfecting this, but I have a working model. I'm sure one of our master acrylicers could do a much nicer design)

i second the diy food
maybe a meeting on equipment in general co2, lights, pumps, skimmers,
Lord knows I have plenty of demonstartion material in my garage

We did a discussion on food not long ago at Vicki Moore's house, but we could always revisit that topic also.

Equipment is a great idea...maybe we should break it into sections so it is easier to follow.

Definitely plumbing ..... as far as like what size of rigid plumbing to use and what kind of drains/returns to use I'm lost ...... I did a small project on a 20g with a 15g sump but I used and HOT overflow box and the flexible pvc from lowe's that Richard used on the tank on the counter over @ Kermit's ....

BTW! Andy did you start plumbing that 250g yet? I still want to help/watch ya do that when you get ready if you still don't mind .....

I know we spoke briefly on the topic at Cass's, but I'd really like to learn more about working with acrylic. Specifically, I'd like to be able to build my own sumps. I'm sure I'll be upgrading my tank in a few months and I have a specific sump design in mind. We could also devote a session to building aquarium cabninets.

Never mind that I have no craftsman skills, nor do I have the tools, but no one has shown mercy on me and offered to build anything I want, anytime I want. I (and my tank critters) will just have to suffer through.

You have to ask.

Nice quote.
One of your students?

I like the idea about lighting with an explanation on PAR values, DIY fish food. Any type of discussion on reactors would be good as well. Being new I benifit from all of the discussions so I am open to all of them.

Naah...I'd rather just complain about it.

But I really would like to know how to build my own sumps.

Nice quote. One of your students?

Thank goodness no. I read it in a collection of history test answers and couldn't resist its classic form.

A wise old man once said:
Build a man a sump, he keeps it until he gets the urge for a bigger tank.
Teach a man to build a sump, he starts a local fish store.

And no, I'm neither wise nor old!
