Shedding zooxanthellae isn't fatal, but it's not ideal. I'd just loose a little cyclopeeze in the tank as a whole, and do it at least every other day. I feed it daily in my 52, and it gives the fish a lot of exercise zipping about to get it. A pricier thing is Oyster Eggs [DT's] that also get a bit of a rise out of corals, and a little micro pinch of that goes a long way. If you have a blender---ooops, student, I see: you probably don't---you can puree some ordinary shellfish you can get at the market. It's hard to dice it fine enough with a knife. But cyclopeeze is one of the best allround, and fish and corals like it equally. I'd still give the fish a few pellets, trusting you have a cleaning crew to take up the excess. But if you start getting an algae rise, back off the feeding of both a bit.
I think variety in foods is a good thing in a tank---it's hard to duplicate the whole ocean, but providing different things on different days is probably the best choice.
