Torch question split or died?

We picked up a torch a couple weeks ago from the LFS... It opened up and was doing great...

After about a week... Then it developed a thin skin like sheet over the top of it for a couple days. This eventually blew off, and it seemed like the mouth was longer and almost like two... at first I thought great it already split..

but nothing has happen since... Is this normal behavior during a split? Or is something seriously wrong with it?
