Torch Separating!?!?

I'm going through a bad stretch... Getting ready to bang my head off the tank! Lately, my SPS has been taking a dive (not that I have more than a few frags). 2 fish with I've had hlle and one with pop-eye... (Fish seam to be recovering)

Has any one ever had or seen a torch separate like this? More importantly why... It looked reasonably healthy besides the fact the 2 out of my 4 heads are flapping in the current! The only thing out of the normal I noticed with the torch is the mouth on the head that has separated was large and open the last couple day to a week.

The rest of my zoos and LPS look fine, zoos are growing faster than ever...

I've been trying to get my calc and mag down for a while.. (Pump failure on the calc months ago.) I've been doing 35-40g water changes every week for the last 2 months... (Total water volume 200G)

I have a temp probe on a controller (Apex) and a digital therm as back up, I recal'd my refractometer a month ago.

I'm devastated... Any words of wisdom?

Wow, that is one soon to be dead torch :(

Have you tested the tds out of your ro/di water? I'm at a loss on what the issue could be... Have you tried running a lot of carbon just to see what happens?

could the hammer be stinging it at night? they have 6" tentacles so if they're within 6" of each other it could be possible.

+1 for too much flow.. thats what I would seem to think too...
is the flow fast at the torch?

how long has it been in that spot?

and stop those water changes... these are good numbers

do you have fish in the tank? have they exhibited any strange behavior? Rubbign on sand or rocks?
Reason I ask is I have had the exact same thing happen to me. I thought I had a parasite issue so I was teating for this and it ended up being a nasty bacteria infection.

My tourch died completely and my fish were attached by a bad bacteria infection which got most of my fish. So like I said, I think what happened to mine was a bacteria infection that was misdiagnosed as a Parasite issue.

Massive water changes every other day for a week saved the rest of my tank. So maybe if you steped up the water changes you can save it. Just a guess..
