Tormenting myself, MS Razor vs RB photo32

Id get two photon 16's and arrange them in a V with a mixture of 90 and 120 degree optics to control light spill. Before I sold my 92 that was my plan.

Do a list of pluses and minuses for each as they relate to your wants and needs.

Razor:
If the light is going to be seen (not in a canopy) then the razor is a bit better looking.
It pulls less power if run at 100%
it has built-in legs.
It has Cree leds.

EverGrow IT2080/ Photon32:
Less expensive.
Comes with a fuller spectrum of led colors (has reds)
Comes with hanging kit.
Controller has remote (I find this very handy).

Things I can't compare because I don't know the Razor that well:
You can change/replace leds in the EG/RB, can you with the razor?
Do you like the legs on the razor? The last light I had like that, in a year the legs were corroding.
The razor has less leds clumped together where the EG/RB has the leds spread out over a much bigger area?
How hot does the razor get? The EG/RB barely gets warm even in my canopy.
How close to full power will you have to run the light to get the PAR you want? I have EG IT2080's and I run them at 90% blue and 40% white with a 200-225PAR at 22" deep. And I only run at that power level for 5 hours. Sure it's a 240w fixture, but at 65% power, that's only 155w.
The EG/RB controller can adjust power every 30 or 60 minutes. How many times does the razor allow for?
The EG/RB allows for controlling 3 moonlights as well. That does the razor do about moonlights?

I like to learn. So can anybody provide me with some answers? Thanks.

That's what I would do. Neither of the lights the op is thinking about will get him good coverage. You'll get shadowing and die off.

The issue so far i have with deciding to go LED is the shadow issue which forces me to buy 2 units for a 30 inch cube aquarium. Which i currently have only one 250 watt MH on. I have no heat issues. Two units put the units practically at the power consumption of the MH. It bulb replacement that an issue with MH.
I had decided on maxspect but the shadow issue and purchasing two units are hinderences so far. two units approx. $800

razor is better with the mix of warm white and neutral whites. no idea what RB uses.
Well, if you don't know what the RB fixture uses, you probably shouldn't be saying that the Razor is better.

I'm curious if there would be any pronounced discoball effect with the RB fixtures since the LED's are so spread out across the fixture, as opposed to the tight clusters on most commercial fixtures (Razor, Vega, Radion, Mitras). Can anyone comment on this?

I just got my RB Photon 48 w/ 90* optics over the weekend. I love it. I dont have any discoball effect in my tank at all. I have it about 6-8 in off the top on a standard 75.

The Reef Breeder currently has all neutral whites. However, RB will provide extra LEDs of your choice or, for a very small fee, custom configure the LEDs for you. This includes All colors available for Evergrow lights.

Took a look at the reef breeder website ; not sure but their fixture may be able to cover 30 x30 cube utilizing one fixture. Anyone have 90 gallon cube utilizing reef breeder.
I had only considered razor before looking at reef breeder.

Hi All! I'm in the same exact position! My tank is 100 cm long x 60 cm height x 55 cm width. I can't seem to make up my mind on wich model to buy (IT2080 or Razor 160W). The EG is about 100€ cheaper than the razor.. wich is and important factor to consider.. but i don't really like the overall look of the unit compared to the razor. Although.. EV unit is 10 cm longer that razor.. wich might make a difference when hanging above my tank. I'm a little afraid that razor (wich is only 70 cm long) will give me dark spots specially on the sides.
In terms of power i think the are both pretty equal: the EV has more wattage but BL leds and razor has less power but with higher power cree leds. I haven't tested neither but my opinion is that the performance will be very similar.

So.. indecised.. Can you guys please give me your opinion on this matter? This is going to be my first reef tank and i'm very excited!

Thanks!
PG

One photon 32 is going to cost you about 5-7 years worth of quality metal halide bulbs. Why bother changing if the MH works for you, you like the color, and are getting good growth already? At least wait until you see both in person and fall in love with one or the other, or until your MH ballast dies and you have to buy something new. I had the Razor, and loved it, but I'd have stayed with an mh setup if I already had it and it worked.

RB for sure. The Razor does visually look better, but it has those unnecessary wings on the sides, half the fixture doesn't even have LED's on it. The RB is compact and isn't any bigger then it needs to be. JMO
