tortuosa and gomezi differences?

how do you tell, and or what are the visual differences of these two species of acropora?

In my opinion most of what is selling as "torts" are actually gomezi.

i dont just think thats an opinion..... im hoping thats not the case, however gomezi seems to be fetching a larger price. Can you tell me why you have came to this conclusion? im aware the look similar as a small, but how about after growing out perhaps?

Great question, the answer may be in the coral skeleton. The corralites on my Torts seem to be rounder than my Gomes.

cool you have been growing both, or what seem to be different species? do you have pics ?

What about a.austera. Throw that in the mix. Its very hard to id some of these blue and blueish stags.

To me gomezi has more bulbish type coralites and is generally a powered blue. They typically dont do as well as tortusa in aquaria either...of course this is jmo.

so we are down to just coralites? no difference in growth paterns? i just recently got a gomezi from bali, looks similar however this animal has blue polyps. i dont have new growth yet to make my own assumption, but so far concur with coralite observation.growth pics would great hint hint..lol
