I dont remember which totm it was but he did write having a problem with those pesky aps. had 2 file fish for control but he had a thought that since the tank had alot of corals that the corals were out competing the asps.
Any thoughts/opinions that having a greater amount of corals could work?
I allready tried pepp shrimp, now have 2 matted files but have been hesintent about adding more corals because of those darn things.

I simply make a weekly schedule to treat my tank with Red Sea Aiptasia X before I do the water change for the week. I think that consistency is the best thing if you aren't trying to tear apart your whole tank, QT all your frags beforehand and start the process anew.

150g mixed reef only a few corals now tank was rebuilt a yearish ago and the dang apts snuck in with the 2 corals I kept. Nuked the apts with kalk paste 2 weeks ago and not as many seem to be coming back, Ive seen they file fish pecking at them. What about the question about having more corals to outcompete them. although they showed in a rebuilt tank running follow with no food stuff going in to it.

If you get a bunch of really young pep shrimp, a certain proportion of them will begin chowing down on the babies. This limits the spread. Eventually the adults seem to have a lifespan limit, and that is what I rely on. Or you can use Aiptasia X for the the giant ones.

If it is feasible for your system, and you need to be realistic when it comes to this, a copperbanded butterflyfish, once comfortably acclimated and thriving, will do work on your nuisance aiptasia problem

i have a cooperband in my 120 and all the aptasia is gone or in hiding. Haven't seen it touch my corals which are all sps or lps but my green bubble tip anemone doesn't seem to open fully anymore.

The Totm was non-photosynthetic tank and his issues were because of the large quantities of feedings the environment was great for aptasia. While having more corals competes for is phyto feedings I wouldn't say that massing coral is is probably a soution.
