Toto, we're not in Tahiti anymore....

It all started with the T-Iso turning green (supposed to be golden brown). I had some more gold in the fridge, so I started it again, and again it turned green. The contaminating algae is kind of hairy, or furry, and apparently flourished in the rotifer bucket, furring the bottom and sides, while the water was clear....

The T-Iso has a sediment that resembles the sediment in all the other bottles of greenwater (they are supposed to be green). Hard to tell if they are contaminated too.

I suspect it is the air pump. I changed it when I needed more air somewhere else, and the underused pump in my phyto system seemed the solution. Perhaps the substituted pump had some spores of microalgae in it's works and distributed them to all the bottles or perhaps the T-Iso was the only one, but since the others are supposed to be green, it is hard to tell if they are contaminated.

I would love to see what the nutritional profile of this wild algae is, or even an ID. Before I trash it all, does anyone know where I can send some for an ID?

You might want to try Bigelow's Center for Phyto Culture.

They've always been very helpful to me in the past when I had problems with my cultures. They also have an option where you can deposit strains for them to study and culture.
