Tough enough

I am planning an aggressive tank and want to know it there are any mantis that would be capable of surviving.

The stock list for the tank is:
Porcupine Puffer
Panther Grouper
Violation Lionfish
Picasso Trigger

If not, I'll just have to set up a mantis tank but I thought I'd check.

All of these fish will start out 1"-3".

I dont think the combination is possible. You would need a very large mantis to have a chance (L. maculata, O. scyllarus) and having such a large mantis would put your fish at risk anyway. The only way i presume it would be viable would be to have a huge tank (100gal+) and have heaps of live rock for your mantis to retreat to if it was threatened. But I would stick to the fish-only or mantis-only tank.
Hope this helped

Altpers0na: You are the Macgyver DIY champ! That water bottle as a skimmer is the work of mad genius. The brita fuge is one of the most creative ideas I've seen in a long time.

I can't believe I just thread jacked myself.

thanks,

i took the water bottle down. i wanna see how effective it really was...
i had moved it from my hob filter, where it had some flow from the filter to keep it in new / dirty water... to my 10gal holding tank, where it had no flow just bubbles. it seemed to produce about the same amount of skimmate.

the brita now has some star polyps growing on it and some coraline...

most of my diy stuff dies in planning.... im far from a champ at it.

go ahead and get a peacock mantis about 6" long and put it in the tank with those fish and see what happens lol, really though unless you want to spen alot of money on mantis shrimp food you shoudl not put one in the tank
