Tour of sustainable aquatics

Matt at SA has been generous enough along with Chris at the Aquatic Critter to provide the club members with a tour of his operations in Jefferson City. We will be going the 16th of May. It is approximately 200 miles so we are planning a lunch there while we will have a short presentation and also a chance for a question and answer session then it will be followed by a tour of the facility. Mat has just gone through some remodeling this last year so even if you have seen it many years ago you may want to see the new and improved version. Also the place is not open to the public so this is not permission to just drop by for a tour any time you want. You can do that at the Jack Daniel Dist.

I know this is over a month away but we would like to get rough numbers of the people that are wanting to go and a few other questions. So please reply back if you may want to go.

1. How many will be with you? # Adults and Kids.
2. Will you be driving your vehicle and are you willing to take an extra person? If yes please tell the location you will start from.
3. If you need a ride where will you be able to meet? Town or area?
4. Are you interested in getting some clowns if Chris is able to give us a discount on them and how many?

I can not say that we will have a ride for everyone but I know that if you are interested and the driving is the reason for not going some one here will likely help. You just need to speak up. I will be driving the 12 passenger van from the Boro and also Norman has a 7 passenger van if we need it.

i definately want to go.

i would prefer to ride, but can drive if necessary (hickory hollow area). if i were to ride, i can come to the ride & not need to be picked up. if i drive i will be taking i40 from around the dam so could meet rider(s) at points in between.

i'm wanting a pair of b/w clowns, but that is conditional on the tank being ready & me having the funds :(

Very cool!

Having just been there 1.5 weeks ago, I can say this is going to be an amazing meeting. You really don't know what its like until you've been there and you've seen thousands upon thousands of tiny to giant clown fishes! :)

I'm not 100% sure if we'll be going yet or not (Julie graduates around that time... I think the weekend before), but I definitely want to encourage everyone who can to go. It is a really cool experience.

For example, guess how much salt they go through a week? 1500lbs! 3/4 of a ton! Now that is some craziness.

I can't say for 100% sure, but we'll definitely try. If so...

1. How many will be with you?

Moriah and I

2. Will you be driving your vehicle and are you willing to take an extra person? If yes please tell the location you will start from.

I think we would prefer to ride, but we probably could drive and if we drive we'd have room to comfortably fit another 2 people. We would be leaving from the Nashville Zoo area.

3. If you need a ride where will you be able to meet? Town or area?

If we're hitching a ride, we'd be able to pretty much meet anywhere around Nashville.

4. Are you interested in getting some clowns if Chris is able to give us a discount on them and how many?

We already have a few bully clowns in each of our tanks, so we legitimately wouldn't have room.

Ok... so now I have to throw a monkey wrench in (and it may be a little early to do so). Depending on the number of people going, might we want to look into renting a charter bus/driver? I think I would personally enjoy myself more for the day if I could socialize with everyone on the ride down. If it turns out to only be a handful of people going, cars would make more sense, but if we're looking at 30 people we might be able to rent a bus for a fairly reasonable per person rate.

Leah and I are tentaitive. If weather permits, we will be riding our Harley's. If not, then driving. We would be leaving from the Mt. Juliet/Hermatige area.

5 adults including myself...
Driving myself...No extra room..
I would like to get a pair of the "S.A. Onyx" percula clownfish if they have those on sale.. If I could get 2 pairs I would but I dont know if they would end up fighting..

Well that's too long for me to sit my back would be totally nuts by the time we got there, and then have the ride home besides! I'll have to pass on this one. Hope everyone else has a great time though. May ask someone to bring me a match to my black and white/w orange face Clown though! We'll see I don't really need any more fish.

I am planning on going at this time... With three young children nothing is ever 100%

I can bring 3 additional persons with, especially if they can meet at my house in Mt. Juliet.

No more clowns for me. Already have two black percula from them and they told me they do not want company :)

A bus would be neat, but rather expensive. Charter buses seem to be around $700 plus $2 or $3 per mile for a total around $2000 for a day trip to Jefferson City and back. :(

I want to go. I will more than likely not be driving there though. My car is a piece. I do want to get a mate for my clown I got from them at the swap. Maybe, get another set for my other tank too. I won't know for sure until we get closer to the date.

1. 3 Adults
2. I will be driving my car
3. NA
4. I maybe interested in getting a pair of clowns depending on what type they have and price.

Jah... it's a about double what I thought it would be from past experience. I guess the mileage is what I was not accounting for in my head since my previous dealings didn't involve nearly the mileage. At $1000, if we had at least 40 people it would not be too bad at all... between gas and saving the wear and tear on vehicles, $25 per person isn't so bad and the club might even have been able to cut that down more ;) At $2000, I think price would be prohibitive for a lot of people.

Quite honestly, I was only going by what I found online. Couldn't hurt to call and ask... they may be hurting for business and willing to wheel and deal a bit. :)

As some might have seen in another post this is going to happen just we will have to change the date. Right now we have it penciled in on the 9th but are waiting a conformation so I will post a new thread to get a head count in a week or so and will update this if any change is made.
