The club has arranged a group tour of Pacific East Aquaculture (Dr. Mac's) for Saturday, Dec. 9 :D This is a great local aquaculture facility and we get to check out all the behind the scenes stuff! Please RSVP here if you plan on coming down with us.
We should get a carpool together and arrange a convenient place to meet in the morning - maybe the Bear Library would work since they are close to Rt. 1 & it's not a problem to leave cars in the lot there. We should try to leave around 9-9:30, it's about a 2 hr drive & they open at 11AM.

Crap - wifey wants to go back to michigan that weekend for her family's Xmas celebration... maybe i can talk her out of it ;)

Im definitely in as long as i have no emergencies at work. i live about a mile from the bear library and i have a large SUV with 3rd row seating which i would be happy to take.

Tbor I meant to message you and tell you they were going to call you. I stopped in there for the first time on my way back from Thanksgiving break, in Sussex county. I would like to go, but it looks as if I will need every dime I've got for food, bills, and to buy the gf something nicer then a card for our first christmas. Wish I could come.

Im in, I'll probably need a ride. I do have that big red truck that seats 4 or 5 comfortably, but I have no clue where I'd be going.

I can drive if needed, will have room for two, maybe three.
Jon - glad you finally got down there, sorry you can't make it for the tour.
Shnabbles - don't know when you get off work, but we'll probably be there a while. & they're open til 5 on Saturday

Count me in...

Count me in...

Sounds like a fun trip, I'm in. I have a van, and I don't mind driving. I'll be at the library by 9:00 A.M. and we can work out the vehicles then.

Cool!
It's beginning to look a lot like "ROAD TRIP"!!

Plenty of vans and stuff with storage space in the back. I can bring my 120 qt. cooler to keep things from rolling around and prevent leakage problems. at least one per vehicle might be a good idea. more is better if there's room.

Hmmm?? Does anybody use those GMRS family type walkie talkie radios?? I wonder, can different sets be tuned to the same frequency or channel so that we could keep in touch on the road, for like, directions and stuff? you know at least one per vehicle?
I have never had much use for them myself. I can't seem to train my dog or cat to answer the dang things when i'm out and call home.

or we can use low tech. Like hand signals, waving and pointing madly for turns and pit stops and stuff.

any suggestions?

Come on Ted!! You can re-combobulate!!

:-( you guys are killing me, sounds like fun and I really would like a tour of the whole place. I have an exam Friday and then 3 the next week starting Monday... I might decide I need a breather and go anyways.

kaptken, good ideas. I gave up on radios though because I tried to use them in Disney world and so did a thousand other people so you could never find an open channel. I also live in a tourist area at home so it's bad there to. We just need to exchange cell phone numbers incase one of the drivers hasn't been there before.

Jon

PS If you haven't been there before... you will probably get lost. I have to admit I missed one of turns and almost right drove by the place as well.

Good Idea on the cell phones Jon! I seem to be the last dinasaur on earth without a cell phone. but everybody else has one.
It could work!!

But I know a backroad way the last 20 miles or so, that is a little more direct and shorter? It's how i have gone before. I'll have to print up a map. it's different than the route MAPQUEST will plot out for you. and less traffic. a nice scenic drive!!

Backroads to the backroads, eh..... Sounds good to me. I actually have a decent set of radios that I use only once a year. But they let you use bands that most don't, so interference isn't a problem. I can bring em along if I remember to charge them up.
