Tragic Scoly Incident!..

In other words due to wrongful frag placement and lack of the frag not being glued my Acanthastrea Echinata did some damage to my Bleeding Apple Scoly :( This happend last week and it seems like it is recovering some lost tissue. The Echinata was sitting on top of a rock and the Scoly on the sand bed the flow must have pushed it over and right on the side of the Scoly. To my surprise the Echinata was unharmed. I guess I has a much stronger sting when compared to a Scolymia sting... Here are some links of before and after the coral conflict.

Yes it still feeds which I been feeding it everyday since it happend. I give it pellets and it eats them well. At night it can still extend it feeding tentacles nicely too..

It should be OK. Mine almost completely melted due to extreme heat (equipment malfunction) and literally came back from a speck smaller than half of a pencil eraser. It got to the size of a quarter and then my RBTA decides to take a walk and smother it. It is recovering again and almost the size of a dime now. Coral/invert warfare can be crazy!!

I don't think our echinata has ever lost a battle.. it has defeated chalices, acans, favias, etc.. that thing can really do some damage. Hope the scoly recovers, they're usually pretty good.

I would use the word unfortunate instead of tragic... It looks like your scoly will recover. In a couple of months you wont even be able to see the part of the skeleton that you see now. Echinatas are indeed meanies.

Hmmmm, my lobo hasn't lost a fight either... Soo a lobo vs echinita... Who wins? I'll say lobo, mine shot a webbing onto my rainbow acan and chalice...it digested both within an hour or so! Lobo is undefeated...LOL

+1 on the lobo.. I read somewhere that they have been known on rare ocassions being able to capture a weak and unsuspecting fish..

I don't like acan echinatas for this reason. They have a powerful sting and can reach corals quite a distance from them fairly easy.

Glad your scoly is recovering.

Yeah thanks for the heads up. I'll be giving them a call tomorrow and ask if they have it in stock...

Hey Kelly sorry for the late update but they do carry it. They have both size bottles, the 100ml is $29.99 and I forgot the price of the other but it's a 250ml. Anyways I highly recommend it. I give it to my frogspawn, hammer, acans, micromussa, duncan, sun coral, war coral, favias, scolys, chalices and even zoas/palys seem to take them readily..

Thanks for the update, ASERT! I just started a tank at work and I don't think my co-workers will take very kindly to "fish food" in the community frige... lol
