Train Seahorse To Eat Frozen Mysis

I bought 2 Brazilian seahorses (Reidi), one red, one yellow two weeks ago, they are possibly the most colorful seahorse, but only eat live brine shrimp so far. I have tried different ways to lure them for frozen brine and mysis without succeess.

Does anyone keep seahorse and have the time and experience to train my seahorses to eat frozen food? I am willing to pay for the training.

I need to bring them back after they are trained to eat frozen mysis. They will stay with my other black seahorse which LIRA caught in Hampton Bay last Sept.

mix the brine shrimp ans ome mysis in a cup, (mostly brine shrimp), then suck it up in a turkey baster. put the baster end near the horse's snout, and release some of the food. Eventually he'll get the idea that the baster means dinner. Then gradually increase the amount of mysis and decrease the brine shrimp. They will eventually mistake a mysis for a brine, eat it by accident, and realize it is food.

You want to get them off the brine quick though--they have next to no nutrition and your horses will eventually starve.

Do you know what sex they are?

Thanks. I will try your suggested method when I go back to NY tomorrow.

I don't know the sex. Anyhow, they are different colors, one red, one yellow.
