I have a very large monti cap"¦apx 2 ½ ft x 1 ½ ft, it has out grown the tank. I am donating it to the Ft Worth zoo. Would it be better to just place soaked paper towels on it and fiscally hold it upright instead of filling the tub with water and hoping it doesn't break? I expext it to be out of the tank for apx an hour.

Thanks

Who is John Gault?

I don't have any experience with moving large corals, but I've received softball sized birdsnests via post, and they were wrapped in bubble wrap and then sumerged in water. No brpken tips.

I would make sure you have a container larger than the coral with a top that seals when closed.
Be prepared with buckets of water from your tank (make sure you have enough water to fill up the container)

Remove coral from tank, put the coral in the container with no water, quickly move it to your car, then fill up with water, put top on to keep water in during driving to the Zoo.
let them decide how to move it from your car.
Just my opinion of how to move it.

Monti caps are very, very brittle!

I recently helped a friend move one that was almost the size of yours. We thought that we had it secure enough not to brake, but it was in about 15 pieces by the time we got it to his new house.

Good luck in however you decide to move it.
