Treating secondary infection

I had a large sailfin tang die about 3 weeks ago. Everything was fine after that until the yellow tang started to beat up on the purple tang which is the same size. The last time I added a fish was 4 years ago with no disease at all. The sailfin just up and died. He was great one day and dead the next. I was thinking it was just his time. I couldn't catch the purple tang in time before he got beat up a bit. The yellow tang went into the trap first so that was the next best thing and I put him in the sump.

Here is the problem. The purple developed white fuzzy looking stuff where he had sores. He is still eating good, active and color looks fine. Is there anything I can treat in tank? It is a mixed reef tank. I googled and didn't find anything. I am thinking it is a bacterial infection. I have been feeding fresh garlic every other day and lots of nori. Also some frozen food I make my self with fresh lobster, crab, shrimp, octopus, mussels, garlic, cyclopeeze, mysis shrimp and a few other things.

After the sailfin died I bought some other fish which are still in 2 separate qt tanks. I don't have a third tank as a qt unless I go and buy another one. I am going to go and get some cleaner shrimp. Also, should the shrimp get some sort of dip or bath? I have never done that or even thought about it till just now.

What are my better options?
TIA

As nice as it would be to have an effective, reef-safe treatment, its really a pipe dream. A picture would help, but it sounds like either bacterial or fungal. Strange in a healthy fish though. Others more knowledgeable than I, but NGP or Furan-2 probably.

+1

You can't treat with antibiotics in a reef tank. You'll need to pull the fish out and treat in a dedicated hospital tank. I'm a big fan of kanamycin (Seachem Kanaplex), but Furan-2 is a good alternative as well.
