Treating with Vitamin C

What kind of skimmer? With my ASM G-2, I just lower the output tube, which lowers the water in the neck of the cup. With my Backpac, I raise the cup higher. Big, fat bubbles of foam all inside the cup--nice, thick skimmate. I clean it 2x/week.

Is it necessary to turn off my skimmer when treating with Vit C?I haven't been and I only need to empty the cup once every 10 days or so and it's usually only half full then.

Well, after reading this I dosed and left my skimmer on.
It's been over 2 hours and no overflow at all...MAN the pills suck compared to the powder. :)

I run a Deltec AP 702.

I haven't had any problems with my skimmer the entire time I have been dosing VC. My PH is stable between 8.4 and 8.24 with out any buffer. I still am running an air pump with stone 24 Hrs a day. I need to get it hooked up to my AC Jr. The only issue I have right now is high ALK (15). I did do a water change today we will see if that helps. It appears my Zoas that were closing up are slowly improving however there is one frag that is worst then when I started.

Any suggestions to bring my ALK down? I did a water change yesterday and now my water is all cloudy. I did notice the brown fungus that as on my zoas appears to be flaking off. I turned my air pump off to see if that helps any. I don't dose anything else but VC. I top off with RO. Thanks

What brand salt are you using? Have you tested the alk in the SW after mixing? I'd leave your pump on--flow is important, especially if you want the brown fungus to come off & zoas to open up again.

any chance that the high alk is the reason why everything seem to get better? I've noticed that it is a treatment for some pests, like dinos.

I was wondering that last night because the fungus seemed to go away in the last couple of days with the spike in Alk.

Pufferpunk, how did you get your Alk down?

Ok, my tubs blue all of sudden took a turn for the worse. They are starting to melt away and that really sucks. I've moved them off of the rock they were on and placed them on a frag tray near good water flow.
I was dosing Vit C but my SPS were having some issues it appeared. Has anyone tried dipping in Furan-2 to stop the melting issue or is VitC the only way to go? My concern is dosing in such large quantities as my SPS are not happy getting dosed twice a day the minimum amount. The SPS tend to have smaller polyp extension.
LMK if anyone has suggestions.

My SPS have only improved since using VC. I doubt it was that, causing your problems with them. Have you seen the before & after shots of my Tubb's?

Here's the before and after. Although the after is actually worse now. There's that brown slime on one of the polyps and the other ones are closed. Wondering if I need to frag or just put in high flow and wait and see.
