I don't run one, so someone else will have to answer this. Folks have been saying it's fine to leave skimmer on & carbon in but I always dose in the end of my sump after those.

I run a dual chamber reactor with Phosban and carbon with no issues. I dont think one has to do with the other.
BTW, I just started dosing some amino acids along with the vitamin c. The results are great so far. My purple deaths have finally grown off the frag plug onto the live rock in the last four weeks.

I am using the Warner Marine AA's but when I run out I am planning on going with the Elos AA's.

Thanks for the advice, I will def. cut back on the VC. I did a 12 gallon water change yesterday that cleared up the water a lot too.
Just wanted to update. I stopped adding any VC 8 days ago and all the slime is gone, water is clear, and all zoa's are opening up :) Starting last night I'm going to dose with 1/8 tsp. (2.5 ppm) for 1 week, then increase to 5 ppm and see how that does.

Thoughts / suggestions?

i read threw most of the first half but got lazy

my AOG colony is half closed and its been like that for a couple days now and i dont wanna risk loosing them. so im gonna give this vitamin C thing a try.

from what i read the buffered vitamin C is preferred yes? dosing should start at 5ppm then raised to 30ppm? i have a 65 gallon DT w/ 30 gallon sump, so im guessing around 80 gallons of total water volume.

^^how much vitamin C would that require?

I'm not sure but I bet it won't be as cheap, especially with the discount. Only $4 shipping too. I usually get 3 bottles at a time & it lasts me about 3 months.

That'll work. Paid way too much thougg. 1/4 tsp of the stuff I use has 1112 mg VC at $12.58/16oz. Yours: 1 tsp contains 2000 mg, at $20.59/16oz.

So if my math is right, yours costs around $.25/gm.
I-Herb costs around $.10/gm.

accutally the store brand vit C i purchased today has an extra ingredient in it called maltodextrin. seems to be derived from natural sources and is often used as a sweetener in foods. the container states no artificial sweeteners are used but still......i might just end up returning this and buying the one offline.
