Treating with Vitamin C

its pure vitamin c but it isnt buffered. so i bought a 2 part calcium and alkalinity dosing. now this vitamin c waas the only pure powder one they had in the store is this good? can i use the alk dose to even it out so it dosnt drop my alk?is the vitamin c good? please say yes

The issue you will have is that it is absorbic acid. With a ph around 4 i am guessing. The reason we go with a buffered form is so that it has little effect on the ph. If you dont use a buffered form, but then use a buffering compound then you run the risk of high alk. I tried using an unbuffered form at first while i waited for my buffered form. But i had Ph drop issues and seachems buffering agents are not the way to deal with it. If you still dont understand then take a little of the unbuffered form, throw in a little buffering solution then just a few drop of water. It will fiss, as it tries to nutralize the acid.

this is the purest thing i could find and i cant order anything online because i have no credit card. i really want to start dosing already and will no way be able to get my hands on the buffered form. i have seachems marine powder buffer and i also have the 2 part calcium/alk solution. is there any way i can use these in conjunction though i really want to start the dosing and definitly wont be able to get the buffered form .

I used un buffered in my tank on my first bottle. Just add like one teaspoon and see how it does. It did not effect my tank any. Add just a little bit more two part, and you should be ok. I always add two part first then wait a while and add the VC. I am currently on the IHerb stuff. You can go back to page 12 or 13 and see the stuff I used. Just start slow and monitor your tank. You are used to seeing the tank everyday, and will notice a change if it happens. How big is your tank?

my tank is only 10 gallons . so how much should i dose?it says 1000mg per serving and 1 serving is1/4 teaspoon. im gona grab some fresh water and add the vitamin c and the 2 part into the container and mix before i put it in the tank is this ok?shoul di add both of the 2 part or just the alk ?

I would only add a quarter of a teaspoon for a couple of days to see how your tank reacts.I did not realize your tank is only 10 gallons. You may just want to add a pinch with your fingers. Proceed carefully with your tank size.

I would not mix in with your two part!! I always add one or the other and wait a little while to add the other. I always add Calcium and Alk. when dosing.
