Trematode or Cloudy Eye ?

I currently have a Blue Throat Trigger, which has a Trematode partially covering his eye. I am currently trying to catch him in my Trap-eze to carry out a 2 minute freshwater dip. I also have a Pink Tail, which yesterday had clear eyes, but this morning has a film completely over its eye. I am trying to figure if this is cloudy eye, which I can treat with Melafix. Can a Trematode when it first attaches itself to a fish cover the whole eye. has anyone got any experience of this ?

Trematodes (Flukes) can and do cause cloudy eye. Very hard to treat with anything but freshwater dips and hyposalinity. I would also recommend that you dip for 5 minutes.

Prazipro is an excellent medication for flukes. Fluke tabs also work, but it is hard on the biological filtration system and IME it is not tolerated as well by all fish.

Thanks for your replies. I'll have to get hold of some. It's difficult in England, as some of these treatments are banned, so are unobtainable.Catching the fish without breaking down the tank is tricky to say the least!!
