Tricks to disperse intake suction.

Ok first off, does the suction from the intake of large pumps in a CL cause problems for either fish and inverts?

Talking like 3000gph+ pumps, and if so is there a general method for dispersing intake suction so as not to have one concentrated area of powerful suction waiting to ambush smaller animals?

Yeah youll definatley have to set something up or youll lose anything that gets to close to the intake.
The easyest choices are
Build an eggcrate box to place around the intake or
attach a piece of PVC to the intake drill or slice holes in it and put a end cap.
I cant give you specific sizes youd have to play around with it yourself to see what works best for you.
