Tricks to quiet "Old School" MP40?

My Vortech MP 40 makes a lot of noise if it is turned up any over the lowest setting. Vortech has replaced both the wet side and dry side for me in an effort to solve the excessive noise issue but to no avail. I am thinking that there must be some secrets out there to quiet these things down so I am asking.
Thanks

I've replaced the bearing in both my MP10's many times. They are a few years old though. Other than ensuring the wetside is clean/free of sand particles etc and aligned properly, I am not sure what else you can do.

Did not think to replace the bearing since the replacement wet side they sent me was noisy right off the bat. I will give that a try. Any other tips out there?

Replacing the driver with a quiet drive will cut the noise in about half. I replaced one of my MP-40 drivers and was so happy I went out and replaced the other driver the next day.

...sorry, couldn't resist. It reduces the electronic noise (variations in energy delivered) which makes the pump run smoother and quieter. It reduced the noise by at least half on my two pumps.

How can replacing the controler quiet down the pump?

The driver is a significant component. It "drives" the motor block. By changing the way the armature windings fire the pump runs more smoothly. This means less vibration and therefore less noise.

Noise? If that was the case the same result could be achieved by adding a torroid to the cable.

Good info. I think the noise he was referring to was of the audio type. Thanks for the info. I love what my MP 40 does for the flow in my tank, just to loud so I will put a QD controller into my budget.

There is a thread on here somewhere showing how to make your vorts more quiet by changing to a better bearing, maybe search that, but most of the time noise is from improper alignment, and sometimes it's kind of a pain to find that sweet spot.
I align them on high setting since that is usually when noise can be excessive.
I just got the mp40 QD, and all I can say is wow are these things super quiet, best pump/PH I've ever had.

Yeah my problem is that I will align it on high but it makes a lot of noise when running at low speed. Not really using it anymore because the rattle drove me crazy.
