Tridacna maxima not extending equally

Hi,

My maxima is not fully extending on one of its sides. I'm not really worried because it looks really healthy and its growing at a good pace. But i'd like to know the cause and solve the problem in order to see it in its fully beautiful potential.

Thx in advance

I bought it as a maxima, but I agree with you that it looks more like a crocea. I'm having some problems because it is not attaching to the piece of LR I want it to attach. It's constantly jumping out of it falling on the sandbed.
I'll try to put it in a low flow zone (though is shaded) to see if it finally attaches and I can move it higher in the tank.

Many thanks.

If you move it to lower light it is less likely to attach. My experience is that they attach when they are happy, and until they are there is no convincing them to attach.

That does look like a cerocea clam I just got one too the shell looks too smooth for a maxima good buy!

Thanks for your help guys. It's doing ok, nice growth border and awesome mantle extension, I'll try to do a decent pic to show you it's beauty.
