I ended up buying a sixline wrasse to help keep the flatworms from becoming a problem. She went into the tank yesterday and I've already noticed a reduction in the flatworms. She is such a pretty fish, and very active!! I also couldn't resist buying a cleaner shrimp!! He seems to have taken up residence under a small overhang of rock completely viewable from the front. He just hangs out upside down doing his side to side dance.
I did a 15 gallon water change today, using Reefcrystals. The salinity measured a little low (measured an hour after the change) at 1.022, even though I used the recommended salt:water ratio. I'll top off with saltwater over the next couple of days to bring it up a little.
I also finally added the extra piece of glass on the middle baffle to raise the height a bit (I initially had the baffles at the same height :rolleye1: so the water would just flow over them). I placed my carbon between the first and second baffle.
I'll try and get some pics posted of the new additions in the next day or two. Water parameters will be measured tomorrow.

Beautiful pics! You have just saved me from cutting on my top. I never thought of placing the lights above the top. Not a bad idea at all. I'm going to try that out tomorrow.
I also like the flat live rock. I'm jealous. Wish I had pieces like that.

Went to my first FMAS meeting last night. It was great!! We had three speakers covering topics of redbugs and acro eating flatworms, making your own fish food and making your own frag plugs. Great job guys! :beer:
At the end of the meeting we had an auction
and I got some new stuff . I bought a frag of pink poscillipora, a frag of purple acro with green polyps (efflouresent), some pink zoas, and a bright orange shroom polyp. I got home, acclimated them and placed them in the tank. I put the two frags on a frag plug I got at the meeting. I broke the plug into smaller pieces and used super glue gel to glue the frags. I'll get pics up later today when the lights come on.
The sixlne wrasse has made short work of the flatworms. I didn't see one in the tank yesterday. I think I'm overfeeding, need to be careful with that. I noticed I have a second refugium growing in my overflow. There is some hair algae and other algae in there. I'll leave it and export it as it continues to grow.

O.K., here are some pics. I really wish we had a better camera. We are going to get a new one for the holidays, should be great!! Ami has to come over with her camera again to get some good updated photos of the new additions. My cam just doesn't do them justice.

Need to find a way to bring up the CA. I noticed my open brain has lost a little color around its edges. I put the new zoos next to it and wonder if this wasn't such a good idea. Also, it has been getting a little sand in it every now and then. It eventually works the sand off of itself, although this must cause it to expend some energy and I imagine it would be stressful to the coral as this is happening daily. It sits near the bottom and in direct light. I wonder if the light is too much for it. I moved it higher and away from the zoos andsand and to a spot on the right side of the tank toward the end of the bulbs to help with each possible stressor. Fingers are crossed. It doesn't look bad, but I do notice a slight change.
Flatworms are totally gone since adding the sixline. He also put a noticeable dent in the pod population. There used to be thousands of pods on the glass and sand every morning. Now the glass is almost clean. This is a good lesson for new tank owners who see their pod populations explode afetr their cycles and want to add a mandarin. They need to wait until the population of these critters is stable. The sixline is eating everything I put in the tank in addition to his continuous grazing.
The clown is becoming territorial as I see him chase away intruders into his private space under the flat rock overhang toward the left side of the tank. Mr. Attitude!

Some updated pics!! New member of the tank, a beautiful RBTA. The clown took to it immediately after introducing it. The anemone has almost doubled in size from what it was at the LFS. I've fed it several times (krill soaked in zoe and zoecon and cyclopeeze) and the clown feeds it usually during regular feedings.
