triggers and eels

is it o.k to mix triggers and eels, my eel already ate 2 wrass . (I didnt see him do it but they are GONE)and I dont want to loose my triggers. the eel is a white mouth about 16 in and fat the triggers are small about the size of a 50 cent piece to a silver doller, maybe about 3in ......so far so good but I thought I would ask.

risky, risky. The trigger's shape makes it much harder to swallow, it also has a tougher hide to survive scrapes, but the problem is that triggers will grow at a fraction of the rate of the eel. which means that as time goes by they will look more and more like meals for the eel.

gl, but you might consider an eel only tank if it is only 60g since larger fish than the ones you have simply won't fit.

my white mouth tried to eat my humu twice. both times i had to pull him out of the white mouths mouth. I would take the trigger out of the tank.

man ,so the eel will try to consume ANY FISH that will fit in its mouth

yea either one or the other . and at that your gonna want to upgrade if you stick with the triggers .

well.......now that I see the error of my ways, I returned my eel and kept the triggers, huma, clown, niger.I know in time I will have to upgrade,but Im going to enjoy them for now thnx .

Doh! Bad move! Whitemouth's are sooo nice!

I definately would've kept the Moray (which you dont see too often) and ditched the Triggers, that 9 billion people have.

You couldve kept that Whitemouth with just about any fish, as long as it was to big to be eaten.

ya, I had to choose and it wasnt easy, but the triggers are more active then the eel, so I picked the "common triggers" which by the way I have never had so they are new to me

Good choice fishfreak, triggers are awesome fish to look at. I have two tanks, one reef and one fish only. In my fish only tank, I have a Clown trigger, Picasso trigger, volitan, porcupine puffer and whitespot puffer. Love watching those triggers swim about, they're one of my favourite to watch

Myself, I not mix the two for a great many years for maybe or rather perhaps some here seen this that triggers depending on the eel species that even if the eel got the triggerfish in it jaws, from the trigger trashing as powerful as it could it sometimes causes the eel to release them.

The reason in this is quite simple really for a triggerfish can and could cause a serious injury to the eel for like sharks like the GW, in it`s attack it shields it`s eyes.

But an eel cannot risk injury to itself.

I have a huma huma, niger, and blue line in with 4 different eels. There is alot of rock work and I have not had any problems. My panther grouper does like to rub up against my larger spotted eel. But the eel is a good 3 feet long and the grouper is now about 14inches.

omg. i had humus with my eels and they were fine. if you think that the eels will eat the triggers, then maybe you forgot how aggressive triggers truly are.

da cee, I not forget to the aggressiveness that triggers do often have and I just said something too their ability in which can aid them in escaping from most eels jaws.

It is none my business in this tank you do, I can only say that you got to be overly feeding for hungry triggers or eels and in the number you have there, you would have a battle of the century as one might say.

I know you the spotted eel but what are the other three eel species?
