Trimming rock

I have 65 pounds of live rock curing for my new 55 gal. Some of the pieces are fairly large and flet. I thought they would look great if I could stand them up as the backdrop. I know others build racks from pvc and such to prop up their rock. Since I have access to a masonary saw, why not trim off a portion of one edge to give me a nice lfat to stand the rock on. The cutoffs can be used in the foreground or broken up for the sump. What do you think?

Without actually having done this my guess is you will have some difficulty trimming or breaking the rocks to the shapes you want. It will be less accurate than, say, cutting tile. I suppose the type of rock may influence how it turns outs. Try one and see.

I had good luck using an ordinary hacksaw to cut LR. I cut the buttoms off several tall pieces to make a flat section so they'd stand up better. Very easy to cut.
