Tropicorium

Anyone ever been?

I have to take my daughter up to the University of Toledo and my wife agreed to make a day of it if I wanted to stop by. :bounce3: So I am trying t figure it its worth it or should I just stop by Salty on my way back.

Tell me what you think....

I think you should stop by both :D
I'd like to hear what you think about Tropicorium and Salty Critter is ALWAYS worth the trip!

If you have never been, Tropicorium is worth the trip. Totally unique set up and you'll see allot of stuff. Literally thousands of pieces. You might call 1st. They used to have some restrictions for walk in traffic. They are about an hour away from the university.

GO if you've never been. I stop by on my trips to Detroit to see my homies. Been there
many times and will still go beck. It's not your pretty store front just a wholesale place that you can buy retail from. Take a styro as you never know what you'll find.

Tropicorium was definitely worth the trip when we went to Toledo earlier this year.

We were on a tight schedule with a funeral to go to :hmm2:, so we only could spare 30 min after the extra hour drive up and hour back. Definitely wished we had more time :)

I stop by on my trips to Detroit to see my homies.
Word!!!:lmao:

I think you are pretty much obligated to stop by any LFS within an hour of your destination when you are in this hobby.
Absolutely stop by Salty as well. They have a great selection on both fish and coral. Great people and a lot of knowledge they are willing to share.

There is one thing you need to know about Tropicorium. IT IS NOT A STORE.
It is a house with a LARGE greenhouse style building behind it. There is no large sign out front or flashing lights. There is a very small sign that says Tropicorium out by the mailbox. The first time you visit, you will probably drive by the house/driveway a time or two before realizing that it is the Tropicorium.

Definitely worth the trip north into Michigan to visit the "Trop" if you are going to be in Toledo area.
If you find you are pressed for time, you could always visit Trilby Tropicals at: 4853 Monroe Street, Toledo, OH They are a large fresh and saltwater store and they have been doing a lot of upgrading and remodeling in the past months.

Definitely worth a stop. I agree a lot to see hard to get out in less than an hour. The one thing I didn't like is that nothing is priced so you'll have to have one of the staff with you to get prices. They have very nice stuff though and amazingly simple systems running successfully. You probably won't find any "named" corals there though :). Last time I was there they had a fairly large fish breeding setup running with many different varieties of clowns, and other fish.
