Trouble ingesting food

I have 1 Reidi seahorse that has started having trouble ingesting her food. She finds the shrimp, but when she tries to ingest it, she misses it. She does this repeatedly, then seems to give up.

It is like she has a neurological problem. I am afraid she is going to starve. Anyone know what the problem might be?

How long have you had her? Is she CB or WC? What are your water params?

Without knowing any more, I'd try a freshwater dip. It could be ciliates, and a FW dip is relatively harmless. Remember to match pH and temperature, aerate well, and remove her if she becomes unresponsive. Provided she stays responsive through the whole thing (even if she's thrashing), 8-10 minutes is a good length to shoot for.

Is this like she is having eye problems, as in she could be either blind in one eye or loosing sight, so she simply cannot see properly.

If this is the case, the only avenue you have is target or hand feeding the filly.

is she leaning to one side or seem to be off balance? if she is more than likely its a bactria or a parasite attacking her nervous system. i had the same problem. i talk to a researcher and he said that there tests you have to run to find out what it is but since there is no way i could have sent mine he could not tell me what it was. he said hope its the bactria because you could treat that. he said the tube feed it furan2 (about the tip of a pen cap) mixed with ro water and crushed life brine. he said make it into a paste then suck up about .3 ml. or cc. and feed to him (my seahorse was a male) and give it to him once a day for a week. to treat for the parasite i would need quinine and that very hard to get since it treats malaria. my male had the parasite because i treated him for a week and he just kept getting worst and then he died.
