Trouble with chalices

My tank is in decent shape with robust growth of SPS montis, acropora, and seriatapora. I've also got LPS like hammerheads and frogspawn that are branching well.

But I have two chalices that don't do well.

The tissue is pulled back and tight. And some skeleton is starting to show.

This is inches away from a large favia that is growing very well...

And a trumpet that takes mysis daily

And other LPS

And the growing SPS

They're in good water flow and about halfway down my 27" high tank.

Alk 9
Ca 550
Mg 1440
Temp 78-83
Salinity 30
pH 8.3

I don't keep chalices but a common theme I've read/heard is that they like lower light. Maybe move them down the rockwork or partially shade them?

Yep, basically under an overhang or close to. Allot of them come from deeper waters with the exception of a few species. My ORA Easter Egg does well in higher light where others do not. I find the smaller the mouth, the lower the light.

My red is under a ledge and on a rock at the base.
My purple is low too but not under an overhang.

I had them very high when I first got them. Could they have gotten burnt? Is it a matter of healing from the excessive light?

One thing I did notice, is your Salinity. You type 30, which I believe you are saying it's measuring at 30ppm, correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that's around 1.021-22. You might want to get that up to around 25-26. Anyway, back to your question I have had mines for about month and a half now and it's completely shaded and it's doing very well, starting to encrust on the rocks.

30ppm is 1.023

The shaded red should be in the right zone. If it's light damage, wouldn't they bleach?

Anything I can do to help?

I don't know if this is the issue or not, but when my refractometer was off and recalibrated my tank showed to be at 1.022-23, i had the tank full of sps and lps, but everyone seemed to be stagnant and some started suffering slow deaths. At that point i didn't know my salinity was off and found new homes for the coral. i found out about 4 months later it was off, pushed it back up to 1.025-26, put corals in and i'm getting growth i didn't have and everything is now happy after adding coral back into the tank. I don't know if having salinity low like that is an issue at all, but i can only say from my experience. Also, 550 calcium is very high, is that a typo? 450 would be a better number and i would start lowering it if it's that high.

It's 550. My sps are growing out over my rocks. I use a salinity probe, recently calibrated and a plastic SG meter - they agree.

No tentacles ever...

ok, I just notice something in your original post. You said "it was inches from a favia". Now favia are very aggressive, now how far is inches--2-3 or 7-10. Now it very well could be getting stung by the favia.

My sand bed is very transient. It moves back and forth with my day/night surges.

I'll move them to the darkest area I can.

The red is about 12" from my favia. It's a big favia rock ~ 12" long and 5" tall.
