Here are the pics of the two bulbs. Remember - the old bulb ran on my system for 9 months before it was replaced with the new bulb that is giving me problems.

The new bulb is to the left (3 weeks old) the old bulb is to the right (9 months old)

Here you can see me pointing to the Reddish color that has accumulated over the past 3 weeks of on and off functioning.

The labeling off of the new bulb

And finally, the labeling off of the old bulb. I have still continued to look around and can't find someone with the same labeling as the new bulb.

Hi Patrick,

The red haze is not something that newly developed. I check all the 250W Radium bulbs we have in stock along with the 150W and 400W bulbs and they all have this hazing (these bulbs are all brand new and recently received from the distributor). Other brand bulb will often have this haze as well (such as XM, Hamilton, etc..). It seems to be more just a difference in the way that the bulb was manufacturered/test rather than something indicating a defective bulb.

We'll take a look at your bulbs when we receive them. Hopefully, our supplier will be able to shine some light on this issue as well.

Please let us know if there is anything else we can help you with.

Sincerely,
Joseph

Joseph,

The red haze is not and was not on the inside of this bulb when I purchased it or you all would of had a call immediately. I wouldn't even of taken the time to install it had it wasn't clear. And if they all have this haze, can you explain why the older bulb does not have this haze considering it was purchased from your facility?

As you said, you will have the bulbs in just a couple of days and I will expect some type of action.

Sincerely,

Patrick

Hi Patrick,

Here are a couple fixtures of new 250W Radiums that we received from the distributor 2-3 weeks ago:

In this case, the haze is not an indication of a defect with the bulb as it is on the new bulbs as well.

As for why it is different from the old bulb: as you noted, the old bulb is at least 9 months old. It is possible and likely that Radium has changed/updated their design since.

We have a very quick inventory turnover rate, so typically will not have stock that are old. It seems to me that you are simply looking at an older design and a newer one ( I am still waiting to hear back from our supplier to confirm that).

Please let us know if there is anything else we can help you with.

Sincerely,
Joseph

Afternoon Joseph,

I can say honestly, that I do not recall any such coloring in the bulbs I purchased. However as I explained in my email, I do believe the fault is not the coloring so much as the grounding problem in the mogul socket. I have inserted a couple bulbs a friend had a home and all fired up and then I inserted the bulbs that I received from your facility and nothing happened. Again I had to tap on the bulb to get it to fire up. I also checked the bulbs last night on his setup, a brand new HQI ballast and the bulbs in question didn't fire up there either. OH well, UPS has them now and you will soon.

Have a great weekend!!
