Troubles running Profilux Control on Vista

So I have tried numerous times to uninstall and reinstall the Profilux Control (many versions too) and it will not run the program.

The error message reads:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Profilux Control II V4070\ProfiLuxControl II.exe
The application failed to start because the side-by-side configuration is incorrect"

I downloaded al lteh Windows Updates indicated for this new Dell laptop.

Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers,
Scott

This occurs with all versions of release, not just the Beta version. I have tried 4.05, 4.061, 4.063. None of them work.

Has anyone else had this issue. It appears to be a conflict with Vista in this machince.

Hi

There are no reported issue globally of this, so it has to be a local issue to your pc, possibly a missing file.

Dont you just love Vista :(

No not really.

Okay, so I took it in to a computer shop today and they speculate that the Profilux software is a 32bit program. They said that Vista operates in 64bit and is backwards compatible with 32bit. However, it is not a true 32bit program and it simulates that environment. Therefore, the files likely cause troubles when back converted.

Do you know if Profilux is available as a 64 bit program???

Any other tips to solve the issue?

i have a 64 bit windows 7 machine at home and i am almost certain i have had profilux run on it fine...

i will be home friday night and i can double check

Hi

As there are just no other reports of issues globally, it really has nothing to do with ProfiLux control software, if it was this forum would be flooded with support cases as well as www.aquariumcomputer.com/forum

I am running vista (sadly) and have not had a single issue myself.

ProfiLux control has now been out for over 5 years and V4xx for a year now with no reported issues.

I think at this point it is important to continue support on the support forum as i have no experience with how Vista works or what could be missing from your own system files. GHL development team might be able to pinpoint for you the file you are missing from your vista operating system or PC.

I am sorry i cant help further on here, if i could I would, ;)
