troublesome blastos..

Ok so I acquired these blastos on tuesday and they still aren't as open as they were when I picked them up. They had a thick orange trim with a blue center (very pricey lol) and the orange is just tucked in and not unfolding.... My parameters are ok, they could be better

Nitrates 15ppm
Nitrite 0
Ph ( a little low) 7.9
Alk ( a little low ) 7
Phosphate a miracle at .00
Salinity 1.024
Cal unknown
Mag unknow (the fish store said with the small amoint of corals I have right now cal and mag will be regulated by water changes

Either way the cal and mag won't immediatley cause it to not open right? That is just ints long term health and growth, especiLly since its an lps?

Maybe too much light. Try putting them in the shade if possible and see what that does.

Hmm ill try that, are they a lower light coral? The gentle men had them under leds but I didn't ask the wattage

Well I never had a blasto but I would bring salinity, pH and alk up also I think they're picky about their flow. Too much they fold up not enough and they look thin instead of kind of plumped up. Other question is what do you have for lighting? My guess is it has nothing yo do with the lighting but it could I suppose.

My lighting is 120 watt everglow led's but right now the blue spectrum is at 50 % and whites and 35% and they have been on ground level light acclimating, everything else I got that day already opened and after 5 days were ready for placement. Today they seem a LIL. more often here they are. The photo is perfectly clear until I upload it on photobucket..

Lower light, higher alk. I would get in the habit of testing Mag if you plan on keeping a lot of LPS, they require Mag to be in the correct range and can use it up quite rapidly (at least in my experience).
